Why katiejames photography?

I love what I do!! I love taking pictures. Life is made up of experiences. I want to capture your experiences so that you will always have them. I want to make your time with me an experience that you, your kids, your families, and your guests will remember with pleasure. My passion is not just photography. It is capturing those experiences in your life that you remember vividly or those you may have otherwise missed. I blend the artistic, photojournalistic and classic approaches, to create photos that can be enjoyed for years to come.

Do you have a studio and/or do studio sessions?

No. I do all of my sessions on location utilizing natural light and utilize flashes and/or strobes when necessary. I have done some studio work and have found the resulting images to be a little stiff and lacking the natural expressions and authenticity that I’m aiming for. It’s much easier to capture natural expression when the shooting environment is less stressful.

There are lots of fantastic and diverse places in the Nashville area. I have several favorite locations but I’m always open to new ideas as well.

How far will you travel?

I will go just about anywhere. For locations outside the Nashville area, I do charge a travel fee.

What is included in your Portrait Collections?

All three collections include a disk with your edited images, with reprint permission (up to 5×7) as well as an online, password-protected gallery from which you can purchase products, including larger prints.

What should I/we wear?

Here are a few tips:

Coordinate your outfits
-Everyone in your party doesn’t have to match; you want to complement each other’s outfits by choosing colors that work well together.

Don’t be afraid of color
-Make sure to coordinate your colors, but do throw some in. When picking patterns, chose smaller ones that won’t distract attention. Don’t dress everyone in patterns … mix it up a bit!

Be timelessly wonderful
-Don’t wear something so trendy that everyone will always know it was from the 20-teens!

Show your personality
-I want to see the family, the relationships, the goofs, the laughs, even the tears!! Wearing something uncomfortable is not fun for anyone, and typically dads and little ones have the hardest time “pretending.”

Keep your home in mind
-Think about your home, your decor, colors, and most importantly, where you want your images to be featured in your home.

Plan ahead
-Make sure to give yourself plenty of time to think about the details.

Do you have a baby plan?

Yes. Contact me for details.

Can we include our pets in a few family photos?

Yes. Let me know if you are going to bring your pet and consider bringing along a friend to handle your pets when we don’t include them in an image.

How long will my portrait session last?

Typically a session lasts 30 minutes to 1 hour but much of it depends on lots of factors, such as children, group size, pets, etc. Newborn sessions can last 2 to 3 hours, depending on the baby.

What is included in your Wedding Collections?

All Wedding Collections include all-day coverage by me, your edited images on a disk with reprint permission (up to 5×7) and an online, password protected gallery from which you can purchase products, including larger prints.

Where should I print my images?

For the highest quality prints, I highly recommend MPix. This is a publicly available printing service from the same lab that I use for all of my professional prints.

Do you keep the copyright to my images?

Yes. I reserve the right to use images I take for use in my portfolio, web site, blog, etc. and you receive copyright permission to print the images for your personal use.

What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, Paypal, personal checks, and cash.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes. Custom photography is an investment so, as an added convenience, I am happy to offer customized payment plans that meet your needs.

Before your session, a credit card number is required for billing according to the agreed-upon payment plan.
